Christmas 2009

The magic of Christmas was in full effect at our house. I am full of gratitude for my family this year. I hope everyone had a great holiday, as well.

Catching Snowflakes

This year's visit to Santa went considerably better than last year!

Merry Christmas, I love you all!

Ewww!

Tonight I made this for dinner:

It was a delicious chicken and veggie stir fry. One of my favorite dinners.

It was supposed to include broccoli, but as I was cutting up a fresh head from the grocery store, I found this:
A huge, green, disgusting caterpillar.
It ruined my appetite!

Stitches

Instead of decorating our freshly cut tree from the cabin tonight, we spent time at the new Riverton Hospital getting stitches. Kate pulled on a stocking and the holder landed right on her little head. She was super brave and I was really proud of her.

After it was all done, she picked this beautiful crown for being so brave.

Vampires

I have a new book obsession. The vampires in the Blue Bloods series are so much better than the Cullens. I just finished the fourth book and cannot wait to read more. Such a good series.

Princesses on Ice

Kate and I were lucky enough to go to Princesses on Ice today with our best friends. Susan bought tickets for and early birthday present for Kate and we went with Jamie, Whitney, Cimberly, Cadence, and Susan. It was one of my best moments as a mom, watching Kate's face filled with pure joy as she watched her favorite characters. She cried, she laughed, and waved good-bye to all her friends at the end. It was pure magic!!

This was the big wedding scene at the end. It was the icing on the cake.
If you know Kate at all, you know how she feels about weddings.

This is at the very beginning, she couldn't take her eyes off it.

Crafty

I spent today making these flannel PJ's for Kate. I had a little, okay a lot, of help from a friend and they are a little too big, but I am super proud of the end result.

Smile

Leah had decided that life in this world isn't so bad after all. After two months of crying, we are finally seeing that beautiful smile that reminds why I love babies. She melts my heart, even at 4:00 am :)

Halloween

Kate told me her favorite part of Halloween this year was the scary houses they trick or treated at. When I asked why she liked the scary ones, she said "Because Daddy saved me". I love how much she loves her Daddy...

Fall Fun

We spent today at Thanksgiving Point for some fall fun with our friends Shaun and Patrea and their cute kids Issak and Lila. The kids had a great time and the babies slept. Too bad we got rained out!!

I loved the face paint...

Pumpkin Patch

We had some pumpkin patch fun today, Kate loved running around picking out which one she wanted. Leah wasn't that impressed.

Kate got the blue head band at daycare for her "great day prize". She hasn't taken it off since. I love that she is starting to become so independent.

Pictures of Leah

A talented friend came over and took pictures of Leah last week. I think they turned out really great, especially because three week old are particularly cooperative! You can check out her other work here. Thanks Kellie!

What's in a name?

Justin was never crazy about the name Leah. He felt that people would call her Lea, pronounced LAY-ah. We made a point to look up other spellings of the name and Justin thought that Leia would create less confusion about how it was pronounced. Since he didn't like the name to begin with, I let him win the battle so I could win the war. Since the baby has been born, about 10 people have called her Lea, based on the spelling. As of tonight, her name is officially spelled Leah, pronounced LEE-ah. Now I just have to change the fresh ink on the birth certificate!!!

She's here!

Baby Leah decided she didn't want to wait til Thursday. My water broke about midnight on Tuesday and I had her about 8:00 the next morning. She is huge!! 8 pounds 10 ounces and 21 inches long!! I am not sure how I grew such a big baby. Kate was only 7 pounds 2 ounces. She looks just like Kate did and we are surviving our first few days. Thanks to everyone for all they have done in the last few days. We love you!

The belly

Since I am 99.99% sure this is our last baby and I am being induced on Thursday, I am trying to enjoy the last days of the belly. Justin took one last picture tonight at the park and I realized how huge it is. So, it's not the best picture of me, but it is in honor of the last huge belly I'll ever have...

Labor Day Staycation

The Daybreak Beach is 10 minutes from our house and keeps Kate occupied for hours. We had a great time this morning and are benefiting from a great nap this afternoon. What a great way to spend the last day of summer...

Nothing to report

What does HARD contractions 5 minutes apart, 4 centimeters dilated, 60% effaced, and 3 hours in labor and delivery get you? Nothing, but a lecture on dehydration from a smartypants, know it all nurse.....

(for the record, I was not dehydrated)

Bridesmaid

Yesterday, my beautiful friend Whitney (who is more like my sister) got married and asked me to be a bridesmaid. This was brave on her part since I am 9 months prego. The wedding was beautiful, beautiful bride, weather, location and I was honored to be part of it.

I am not quite sure how I made it through the whole day with this one picture. It doesn't even have Whit in it! This is me, Kim, Angela, and Jamie right before the ceremony.

Backyard Camping

Justin and Kate slept in the backyard last night. Kate was super excited and slept pretty well. Can't say the same for Justin, but they still had fun.

Kate got out her "fishing hat" for camping and wouldn't let Just take it off.

Anniversary...

After 7 years, 1 college graduation, 4 new jobs, 2 houses and 2 mortgages, 3 new cars , 1 and 3/4 pregnancies, 1 two year old and 1 on the way, 1 black lab, countless vacations, and only a little drama, these two crazy kids have a pretty good life together!

All girl

Kate is very into girly things these days. We talk all day about princesses, weddings (especially to her boyfriend Eric from The Little Mermaid), ball gowns, pretty hair, and anything else a princess would do. This is her ball gown from tonight, made from a blanket.

She made her hair pretty by herself after she found a box of clips that I make bows out of. There were probably had 30 hair clips in her hair that she had dipped in water. She was really proud to come and show me what she had done.
