Good-bye...

Well, most of you know that Red Rover is no longer. Justin worked for his friend Cameron tirelessly for the past two years and we found out a few days ago it's no longer. We are incredibly sad. Red Rover was a great experience for Justin and we have no regrets. Justin is being welcomed back to his old job at Land Rover Centerville, so our little family will continue to thrive. It's hard to say good-bye to something that you worked so hard at. We will miss the laughter, the flexibility, and the short commute :)...good-bye Red Rover.

2009...

Here's to 2008, it was an amazing year for me. I watched a baby become a kid, learned that I can survive no matter how stressful, fell more in love with Justin as I watched him be a great daddy, laughed a lot, cried a lot, loved a lot, got scared about the future, and became hopeful for the future. Here's hoping that 2009 will be just as amazing!

Christmas...

We had a great Christmas at the Macfarlane house. Kate was a little unsure at first about what was going on, but soon got into opening presents. Santa was good to her and so was her family. She is the only grandchild so she got spoiled! Justin and I had such a fun time, it's amazing how kids bring the magic back into Christmas.

Tagged...

Liz tagged me to post the 4th picture in the 4th album. Wow, my baby was a chunk!! This picture was taken at our cabin when she was about 5 months old and in the height of her chunkness. She hadn't started to crawl yet, so she wasn't burning many calories!! And she was so bald. She has come a long way from chunky, bald baby! I tag Bri, Carlye, Becky, and Patrea!!

Santa...

As you can see, Kate loved the Santa experience!

Walmart...

I hate Walmart! A few weeks ago, we ordered a slide for Kate from Santa. Today I get an email that says it cannot be shipped and to call a 1-800 number to cancel the order. I spent 20 minutes in a automated system to hear that orders cannot be cancelled. I am now holding with a wait of "longer than 5 minutes". This voice keeps coming on and saying that Walmart has great customer service and I can check the website for all my ordering needs, except that the website says I cannot cancel my order!!! I hate Walmart and am encouraging a boycott!! I hope Santa can find a way to get Kate a slide in 13 days, because all the local stores say that slides are seasonal and will be stocked in the spring!!! Again, I hate Walmart!

Christmas Tree...

Every year on the Friday after Thanksgiving, we go to our cabin and hunt for our Christmas tree. It's always a surprise to see how much snow we have to hike through and you never know how long you'll have to hike for the perfect tree. I always want the first tree I see and Justin always wants to keep looking. Kate was tired from a night of no sleep so she fell asleep in the kid carrier and missed the whole thing. We ended up with the biggest tree we've ever had. I spent a lot of time getting the lights on and got to the end and realized I put them on backwards and couldn't plug them in!! So...I put lights on twice. The finished tree turned out great and Kate kept saying "Wow!" She liked the lights and decorations. Can't wait for Chirstmas!!

Before Kate fell asleep, she liked to taste the snow!

Terrible Two's...

How do you deal with the terrible two's?!? It is so frustrating to deal with a total meltdown, screaming, crying, the whole deal, over something small like not having the right flavor of chapstick. Who knew that chapstick, cookies before dinner, wrong kind of juice, having to wear a jacket, not getting to wear the star shirt, etc., could ruin your day. Wow! Any tips on how to survive without selling my child on ebay?

Obama...

I loved this election. It was the first time that I really cared about the candidates, issues, debates, and was really excited about casting my vote. I am very excited about our country's future with Obama leading us. It was a great moment watching the historic event. In all this excitement, I still think that it is ironic that everyone in the country is talking about the end of discrimination of African Americans yet proposition 8 still passed. Is it okay to discriminate against gay Americans but not against race? I feel a little sad, yet hopeful for this great country and can't wait to see where we will go. I hope that Kate will inherit a world free of judgement and will only learn about discrimination from her history books....

Halloween...

We had a great Halloween. Kate was a kitty and loved it. She was running around saying "Meow"! We trick or treated with our neighbors for a few houses, but Kate didn't really get it. We went home and had tons of fun handing out candy. Kate got so excited to see the other kids coming to our house and she was in charge of giving them candy. It was a super busy day but we had a great time!

Kate did not want to touch the pumpkin guts...she is definitley a girly girl!

The whole family came over to carve together. We do it every year and always have fun being creative. Can't wait til next year!

I caved!

So...I gave in and created a blog. My friend Brienne told me it was a grown up thing to do. Be patient while I learn how to do this!!
